By the time you read this, Steve and I will be settling into our new lives as full-time creatives. My husband and I are both artists - we paint the mountain landscape surrounding our home in Colorado.
As of June 1, we will no longer be living in the big city. We are moving to my home in Crestone - conveniently located in the middle-of-freaking-nowhere.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.
Space. Mountains. Fresh air. Sunsets. Free time. A gigantic dome of blue sky.
Ironically, this retreat from Denver has coincided with some wonderful auspicious coincidences.
For years, we have both struggled and strived to get our art out into the world - a feat that feels increasingly challenging with more artists and fewer galleries—four of my galleries closed in the past few years. More and more galleries are closing, we learned on a recent trip to Santa Fe.
So when we recently reached out to some galleries, we were thrilled (and I was frankly a bit shocked) to be invited to join one of the most established galleries in Colorado - The Broadmoor Galleries in Colorado Springs - as guest artists.
Every summer this historic hotel hosts a plein air painting event on the grounds, with guest artists invited for a whole weekend of festivities, and to connect with the hotel’s art collectors.
Last weekend we went to scope out the grounds and visit the gallery. We are beyond excited.
If you happen to be near Colorado Springs on July 5-6, please stop by and stroll among the artists around this beautiful setting. You can find more info on the “events” section of my website:

Create Every Day
I’ve never been so happy in my life as when I am creating on a regular basis. There is something so satisfying about completing a painting, or hitting “publish” on a piece of writing.
Yes, meditate daily. Take daily walks. Find ways to check in with your state of mind and physical body.
But after decades of daily practice, I realize how important it is to share the fruits of all that labor.
That’s why I’ve been working on this new opportunity for you to join me…
BLOOM: The Creative Incubator
Starting in June, for paid subscribers, I’ll be sharing a new 28 day program of study called Bloom. Each day will feature a short guided practice and creative prompt, no longer than 30 minutes per day (and usually under 10 minutes.) Get a preview here.
Then on a monthly basis, we’ll gather together for scant hour (45 minutes) of creative incubation. I’ll supply a guided practice to get the right mindset, and then we’ll venture into creative prompts: journaling, but also other exercises to get the creative juices flowing.
Even if you don’t identify as an artist, you are co-creating your life. This offering is designed to help you focus on what is important to you, and to develop practices to give your full attention to what matters.
If you’d like support in creating your own daily habits—and/or if you’d like to support this publication— consider upgrading to a paid subscription to join us for these monthly sessions.

This month’s sneak-peek into the creative process explores how emotional maturity can help you become a better artist, and a better human.
In this month’s exploration of tools for training the mind I shared a post on the art of grounding.
